Jan Goldner has been devoting a large amount of her time to charity and kindness since January of 2013. Jan Goldner is active in a number of charity organizations including the Alzheimer’s Association.
The Alzheimer’s Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. With chapters across the country, the Alzheimer’s Association provides professional staff to offer advice, online resources, educational programs, and clinical studies in an effort to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease entirely.
In October 2013, the Alzheimer’s Association published the largest genetic analysis done to date. After scanning the brains of more than 70,000 volunteers, the results showed that 11 new gene variants may be linked to Alzheimer’s disease. These findings doubled the number of linked genes previously discovered and helped scientists see a relation between these genes and the body’s immune system. The new research and discoveries may lead to new pathways to explore in the treatment and eventual cure for the condition.
